At Mig’s, you can even taste the bin ends! Some of our suppliers have made us very good offers: it’s for you to take advantage of! But don’t forget: first come first serve, most wines are in very limited quantity!

Free tasting as usual all day Saturday 2 February. See you here!

Hello, Hello, Hello, Mig’s is finally coming out of its early January lethargy and hibernation! We wish you (better late than never) a wonderful 2008: may this year be filled with all kinds of discoveries; we’ll take care of the oenological ones!
Let’s finish this month and start this new year by a great discovery: this Saturday, the winemaker from Petaluma (Coonawarra, Australia) will be behind the counter at Mig’s and will let you taste not only the actual range of wines commercialized in Belgium:
- Croser Sparkling Brut
- Petaluma Riesling
- Petaluma Chardonnay
- Petaluma Coonawarra unfiltered (cab/merlot)
- Petaluma Shiraz (a first at Mig’s)
...but also a few re-releases, that is, old vintages from their own cellar. So, come and experience not only the talent and generosity of Andrew Hardy, but also the ageing capacity of these great wines from Down Under:
So, be here: Saturday 26 January from 11am to 7pm
43, Chaussée de Charleroi, 1060 Brussels
As usual, it’s free and everybody’s welcome!
Cheers!

This Saturday 1st December a new country is added to Mig’s (long) list: Moldavia! Cheap and cheerful wines: we’re still waiting for typical local varietals, but we’ll start with both a crisp and lively sauvignon blanc and a fruity cabernet sauvignon.
A little surprise will be added to that, some other novelty still to be chosen! We’re waiting for a Portuguese sparkling, so maybe…?!
And, please make a note in your agendas of the following exceptional tastings. On 8th December, we’ll be hosting a vertical tasting of various old vintages of the Petaluma Coonawarra. This wonderful cabernet/merlot from the famous region of Coonawarra (Australia) is elaborated by Brian Croser, the instigator of the “Distinguishes Wine Sites” of Australia, the unconditional promoter of terroir wines from his country. Exceptionally -and the one and only for all of Belgium-, Mig’s can offer you in small quantities the vintages 1990, 1991, 1996 and 1998, as well as the current vintage which is 2002. Directly from the Petaluma cellars, this is a great opportunity to taste mature Australian wines and to prove that these wines can certainly age as well as French wines!
On 15th December, we’ll be tasting bubbles! From Australia (Thomas Mitchell), Argentina (Santa Julia), USA (Argyle) and France (Forget-Brimont), sparkling wines for your parties ! Our range of Forget-Brimont now extends to their demi-sec, rosé and Blanc de Blanc (in small quantities). The Brut is also available in magnums and ½ bottles.
Cheers!

Program of the tasting of this Saturday 24th of November: new wines from New Zealand! The complete range from Waimea Estate (Nelson): the first labels, Spinyback sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and cabernet franc and the superior ones, Waimea sauvignon blanc and pinot noir. The latter is to be discovered with no delay, the price (14.50 €) is incredibly low for such a crisp and tasty wine, filled with flavors of cherries and a bit of smoke. Absolutely delicious!
Other piece of interesting news: Mig’s continues to enlarge its offer of Belgian beers. Now we stock: la Chouffe, Kriek Oude Beersel, Oerbier, Quintine blonde, Trappistes Rochefort and the strongest beer from Belgium, the Bush (it’s not a joke – it’s a pun from Brasserie Dubuisson)! AAAAhhhhh, if only our Belgian politicians were as good as our beers – diversity is our wealth!

The Beaujolais Nouveau arrives this week! Once again, we are very pleased to offer you one of the best Beaujolais Nouveau, an organic and non filtered one, from Jean-Gilles Chasselay. He makes two different ones, the first that’s called very simply ”Ma Cuvée” and the one made from old vines, named “La Marduette”. To be tasted from Thursday until Saturday.
For our usual Saturday tasting, apart from the Beaujolais Nouveau, we’ll honor this week the Thanksgiving festivities that are coming up! We’ve chosen three American wines that will go well with the turkey and cranberry sauce: a rich and creamy chardonnay , the Columbia Crest Grand Estates, a pinot noir from Oregon , the Argyle pinot noir and of course a juicy zinfandel the Bogle ‘Old Vines’. Cheers !

08/11/2007

From now until Christmas, each of our Saturday tastings will offer a nice alcohol as well as the usual three or four bottles of wine. We’ll start with rum this coming Saturday, the Matusalem Gran Reserva, originally from Cuba, and now located in the Dominican Republic.
We’ll also taste, or re-taste for some of you, a white wine from Slovenia, the Movia Vila Marija Pinot Grigio 2006, a spicy red from Chile De Martino Legado Syrah 2004 and a red from Australia Tscharke’s Only Son 2005 , a rich and unctuous 100% tempranillo from Barossa Valley.

25/10/2007

This week Mig's is celebrating the Springboks' victory in the Rugby World Cup with an overview of South Africa's benchmark varietal, the pinotage! We'll be tasting:
- Oude Kaap pinotage
- Southern Right pinotage
- Clos Malverne pinotage
- Kanonkop pinotage

The latter, vintage 2004, has received a Double Gold Veritas Award in 2006! Quite an accomplishment. This tasting will be a wonderful way of comparing wines from the same varietal and defining the characteristics of this intriguing grape.

And don't forget: the final countdown has started, only one more week until our big annual event, our Wine Marathon taking place on November 1st. Details below. We're also proud to have a great new neighbour: the Wasabi Sushi Lounge has -at last- opened its doors, just in time for us to spread over there on our Open Door Day! You'll thus have a chance to peek in on this classy new restaurant!

C U! Cheers!
