Women in (Belgian) Wine 28/08/2017
Wine is still very much a man’s world although this is also changing for the better.
The re-birth of the Belgian wine industry is very much the accomplishment of Joyce van Rennes who created the Vineyard & Winery Wijnkasteel Genoels-Elderen (Limburg, Flanders) back in 1990. Two other ladies are now major players: Vanessa Vaxelaire at Château de Bioul and Jeanette Van der Steen at Château Bon Baron, both in the Namurois region in Wallonia.
At Mig’s we stock over 50 Belgian wines, a good dozen of which come from the above mentioned estates.
The Bon Baron Muscat has just won a gold medal at the “Muscats du Monde” competition: do pop on this Saturday to taste it. By the way, muscats are not always sweet, this one is totally dry.
